Steps

1. 

   Your fist should look something like this.

   Create a fist. However, there is a difference to this fist. Instead of having your thumb on the outside of your fingers in the regular way, press your thumb into the hollow created when you roll up your index finger. Your thumb should end up about three millimeters under the side of your index finger. Practice flicking your thumb out of its position. The nail should flick along the inside the joint closest to the hand, before jumping into a half thumbs-up position.

2. 

   This is where the coin goes.

   Placing the coin. Coin placement is crucial. You have to get it just right to maximize the height of your flip. There is no one way of doing this, as every thumb is different. However, the one thing you must do is place the coin across side of your index finger, which should be slightly above your thumb. You are now ready to flip.

3. Flipping the coin. Repeat the process you practiced in Step 1, except this your thumb should make contact with the coin and whack it into the air. As it flies you’ll notice that it flips. This is where it gets the term ‘Flipping a Coin’.
4. Don’t lose it! The coin could conceivably fly for some distance. Track it through the air as it flies, so it doesn’t get lost. If you can, try to do it over a table, so that you can clearly see how it landed, and others cannot contest what the result was.
5. Determining the outcome. After you’ve found your coin, don’t touch it. Make sure you don’t touch it. Treat it like a crime scene. Make sure your contestant sees what the result is. If the side has a head on it, you’ve got heads, if doesn’t, tails. Its that easy.

Tips

• Choose light coins. Heavy coins can hurt when you first make contact. If it is light it will fly high as well.

Steps

1. Retrieve a coin to do the trick with.
2. Ask a random audience member to come up to the stage.
3. Tell him/her that you are going to perform a coin trick. (Do not do this if it is obvious)
4. Place the quarter in your dominant hand and flip your hands down.
5. While flipping your hands down “toss” the coin into your non-dominant hand.
6. This will be so brief, that your audience member will not see it.
7. With your hands down, coin in hand, ask your audience member which hand the coin is in.
8. They will go with the hand that the quarter was in first.
9. Turn your hands over and they will be amazed.

Tips

• Try doing this alone and see if you can even tell which hand it is in.
